Fabric History/Pedigree: 1970s kimono Ro (summer weave) silk fabric pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert .
Fabric Type: Lightweight sheer Japanese silk, sheer, translucent Ro type weave(skip-stitching making fabric breathable) plum colored solid background; Note the thin lines caused by the Ro skip-stitched method running like pinstripes laterally (weft); designs on one side, but as this is quite fine and sheer, mostly same on reverse: this is a common traditional motif using many types of flowers (hibiscus, bellflower, cherry blossoms, bamboo leaves), as well as curving streams (parallel lines) and crescent shapes along side mock-shibori dots; Colors are mostly shades of white to pale gray and blue-gray, only a few accented leaves in yellow and green; Please see close-ups; slight drape and fairly soft to the touch.
Suitable for making scarf/accessories.
Colors: Please consider our text descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric, as colors and contrast differ on different devices.
Condition: Excellent.
